The British retired Formula 1 racer has passed away at the age of 90 in his house in Mayfair, London after a long battle with illness, his wife Susie announces.

AceShowbiz - British motor racing legend Stirling Moss has died at the age of 90.
Although Moss never won a Formula 1 drivers' championship, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers of all time, winning 16 Grand Prix races in a career stretching from 1951 to 1961.
He passed away at his home in Mayfair, London in the early hours of Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 following a long illness, his third wife, Susie, who was at his bedside when he died, confirmed.
She told Britain's Daily Mail newspaper, "He died as he lived, looking wonderful. He simply tired in the end and he just closed his beautiful eyes and that was that."
Moss's health problems were originally the result of a chest infection he caught in Singapore just before Christmas 2016, and he retired from public life in January 2018. There are no indications his death was linked with the Covid-19.
Four times a runner-up in Formula 1, he was named BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 1961 and was knighted in 2000 - winning fans with his sportsmanlike attitude to motor racing.
Moss was also an accomplished rally driver but was forced to retire from top-level motorsport in 1962 after a crash at Goodwood race track left him in a coma for a month, and partially paralysed for six months. However, he did compete in heritage events until the age of 81.
He is survived by Susie and two children.
