Singer Cristina Dies From Coronavirus Complications

The 61-year-old singer Cristina Monet Zilkha has reportedly lost her life to coronavirus after suffering from the Covid-19 complications following her struggle with high fever.

AceShowbiz - "Things Fall Apart" singer Cristina has died aged 61 after reportedly losing her battle with the coronavirus.

The new wave star, most famous for her work under New York record label ZE Records, is said to have died from complications to do with the Covid-19 virus.

News of Cristina's death was confirmed on Facebook by ZE Records' co-founder Michael Esteban, who wrote, " 'Is that all there is' Wake up this morning with this devastated news, dearest Cristina past away. So sad."

Cristina's friend Steve Wasserman, a professor at University of California Berkeley, posted on social media that the star had been experiencing a high temperature but her "lungs were clear," and she appeared to be on the road to recovery.

"Then, with appalling swiftness, she was gone this morning," he wrote on Wednesday, April 1, 2020.

Following news of Cristina's passing, singer Zola Jesus was among those paying tribute, writing on Twitter, "Cristina was a HUGE inspiration to me. I loved how she was too weird for the pop world and too pop for the weird world."

Cristina recorded under her mononym, but went by the name Cristina Monet Zilkha - although she was born Christina Monet-Palaci.
