Taking to his Twitter account, the 'Happy' hitmaker asks for his followers to do some good deeds by donating to the Frontline Responders Fund, only to be met with backlash.

AceShowbiz - Pharrell Williams caught the heat after he urged public to donate to COVID-19 relief efforts in his latest tweet. In the said tweet, the "Happy" hitmaker asked his followers to do some good deeds by donating to the Frontline Responders Fund, only to be met with backlash.

"Hospitals are running low on masks, gowns, and other critical items. We need to replenish their supplies," so the musician wrote. "Take action, make a donation, and ask others to join the fight. We're in this together. Let's protect the responders on the frontlines."

In response to the tweet, one critic wrote to him, "I-- I know you're not asking me for my $2 when your net worth is literally $150 million. You can make a bigger difference by donating just the money you stole from Kelis. Foh." Someone else urged Pharrell to "read the room my guy. Read the room."

"So lemme get this straight. You are asking the millions of Americans who may not have a job right now to donate?! You're asking people who have an avg HOUSEHOLD income of less than $55,000 to donate?" another fan added. "Imagine asking the people who most likely are being laid off right now, to donate while you could just get your fellow celebs to raise money," read another comment.

One user noted that the singer put his $17 million Beverly Hills mansion up for sale, remarking, "You literally live in a community college spending Kelis Milkshake royalty checks on Uber eats and you're asking US TO DONATE!?!?"

Meanwhile, someone asked him to "donate your own money" because he's "worth over $150 million," to which Pharrell replied, "So sorry if i wasn't clear. I of course donated but wanted to make sure my followers had a way to get involved if they needed too."
