The actor and comedian expresses gratitude that his child with wife Shaifali Puri, whom he married in 2017, was born without any incident 'in these trying times.'

AceShowbiz - Comedian Aasif Mandvi is a first-time father, after welcoming a baby boy with wife Shaifali Puri.

The couple announced the happy news in a statement to People, revealing their son was born on 14 March (20), and "showed up for his party at 3:27am" in "true NYC fashion".

Referencing the global coronavirus pandemic, they continued: "In these trying times we are so grateful for his safe arrival and his reminder of the tenacity of life and love, the strength of family and the inevitability of new beginnings."

"Please stay safe out there, we are all in this together and we will get through this together!"

Former "The Daily Show" correspondent Aasif, who currently stars in NBC show "Evil", married charity executive Shaifali in an interfaith Hindu and Muslim ceremony in Atlanta, Georgia, in August 2017.

The couple met through a mutual friend in 2013 and became engaged in 2016 during a vacation in Big Sur, California.
