AceShowbiz - David Beckham has paid tribute to all mothers across the world in celebration of Mother's Day in the U.K. The former professional soccer player took to his Instagram page on Sunday, March 22 to "shine a light" on women, especially the ones who are on the frontline during the coronavirus crisis.
"Today is Mother's Day here in the UK but I want to take this opportunity to celebrate mothers across the world," the 44-year-old retired athlete wrote on his Instagram Story post. "There are so many mums out there working in healthcare, essential services and education keeping us safe and looking after our communities and our families."
"I want to shine a light on them today," the father of four went on, adding that "if your mum is working on the frontline in this terrible crisis I would love to hear her story and I will share some of them here." He urged his followers to "take a moment to be grateful for mothers everywhere because we owe them so much."
In another post, David shared a series of photos from "before the world was gripped by this awful virus" that saw mothers around the globe with their children. "Through my work with @UNICEF I have had the opportunity to meet so many amazing mums and their children all over the world," he wrote in an accompanying caption.
Asking people to celebrate "all of the mothers doing their very best to protect their families in these uncertain times," the co-owner of Salford City then sent his "love" to the "many mother figures who give so much to children that aren't their own, but who they love and care for just as if they were."
David didn't forget to honor his wife Victoria Adams a.k.a Victoria Beckham and his mother Sandra Beckham as well as his mother-in-law Jackie Adams as he posted Instagram pics of the three women. Calling them "the most amazing mums," he wrote in the caption, "We love you so much so sad we can't all be together today but wanted you to know how much we miss and love you."
