The model, whose mother is a Vietnamese, condemns the discrimination against Asian people as she stresses how dangerous the judgement made on who's responsible for the spread of the disease could be.

AceShowbiz - Karrueche Tran is defending the Asian community as they are irresponsibly blamed for the coronavirus outbreak. The 31-year-old model speaks out against people who dub COVID-19 the "Chinese virus" after President Donald Trump defended the use of the term.

Taking to her Instagram account on Wednesday, March 18, the "Claws" actress wrote, "Xenophobia is not ok!! To target and discriminate Asians is wrong!!" The Los Angeles-born star, whose mother is a Vietnamese, disagreed with Trump and others who called coronavirus the "Chinese virus", stressing, "The coronavirus is not 'the Chinese virus'!!"

She went on pointing out how serious the effect of discrimination is. "There are Asians afraid to leave their homes! There are people who have already been hurt (I know y'all seen the video of the older Asian man [angry emoji])," she wrote, before urging people, "Let's stop instilling more fear and hate. The world is struggling enough as it is. Please stop this!!"

She added in the caption, "PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF HUMANITY."

Karrueche's anger and worry is not without reason. Last month, a video went viral showing an elderly man being attacked, bullied and humiliated while collecting cans in San Francisco, likely because he is an Asian.

San Francisco Supervisor Shamann Walton, who represents the Bayview District, condemned the incident, saying, "Elder abuse is taking place. We're working on getting somebody intermittently who can work with our office to coordinate how to respond to and prevent and intervene in violence in our district as a whole."

In the meanwhile, President Trump has popularized the use of term the "Chinese virus" to refer to coronavirus. After receiving backlash for using the term on Twitter earlier this week, he doubled down on it as he insisted during a press conference on the pandemic on Thursday, "Cause it comes from China. It's not racist at all. Not at all. It comes from China. That's why. I wanna be accurate."

When asked about people from China who live in the United States, the president said, "I have great love for all of the people from our country. But as you know, China tried to say at one point, maybe they stopped now, that it was caused by American soldiers. That can't happen. It's not gonna happen. Not as long as I'm president."
