AceShowbiz - Amanda Bynes' lawyer has urged the media to stop speculating about the pregnant actress' addiction issues as she focuses on her mental health.

The "Hairspray" star and her fiance, Paul Michael, announced Amanda is expecting her first child on Tuesday (17Mar20), amid reports suggesting they had called off their engagement and reconciled, while the actress had been ordered to check into rehab by a conservatorship judge.

Now her lawyer, David Esquibias, has released a statement to People magazine, urging fans and the media to stop digging for dirt on his client now she's with child, insisting all the extra drama is not helpful.

"Any reports that Amanda is suffering from drug or alcohol addiction issues are completely false," he said, referencing one headline-grabbing story doing the rounds. "We ask for privacy during this time, and for any speculation about her personal life from the public and the media to cease so Amanda can focus on getting better."

Esquibias confirmed the actress is seeking treatment for "ongoing mental health issues" she has been struggling with for years, since a series of legal problems forced her into a conservatorship with her parents.
