After a heated argument on Twitter, the 'Bring the Funny' judge appears to be softened in her response, tweeting to one of her followers, 'I promise you I am not bad??'

AceShowbiz - Chrissy Teigen won't hesitate to own up to her mistake. The model and author was caught in an online back-and-forth which stemmed from her "tone deaf" tweets about ordering soup amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This is not an ad but if you're holed up at home, ordering America's best food from Goldbelly is the way to go right now!" the "Lip Sync Battle" co-host wrote in a now-deleted tweet on Sunday, March 15. "Currently shipping clam chowder from Boston to myself."

She added in a tweet which was also deleted, "If you've ever eaten somewhere and dreamed of having that certain bite again, chances are they have it available for delivery to your mouth and it’s so fun to scroll through." In a separate post, Chrissy continued, "correction: do NOT order soup."

Many deemed her social media posts were insensitive in addition to being ill-timed as local governments across the country urged restaurants and bars to close in an effort to limit the spread of Coronavirus, though many cities are still allowing people to order in from local eateries during certain times.

One of the critics was paleontologist Trevor Valle, who replied to one of Chrissy's tweets, "Hey there. It's not about the soup. Never was. It's about people being scared about not having enough resources, who can't do what you do... isolated people using social media to connect, and if they see something like that, and then feel worse, because they can't."

Defending her tweets, the wife of John Legend responded, "it IS just soup. I can't make everyone happy, I've really tried. why am I not allowed to make a boring, earnest tweet about something I enjoy that some others can too?" She went on to insist that "I have no ill intentions and I dunno why people want to think I mean harm with everything I say. I really wish I could make everyone happy, I do."

Valle acknowledged that the tweets were not harmful but he noted that "it did seem... out of touch. Nobody can make everybody happy all the time." He added, "I know that ordering things like that is easy for you, but for a lot of people, it's not. Some of them might be scared, and unable to get such a... frivolous... comfort."

Goldbelly also chimed in, writing via its official Twitter account, "Goldbelly is predicated on empowering hundreds of small mom & pop food makers across the country - most who have shut down their shops, many who are in danger of going out of business. All they have left now is their shipping business. Now is the time to support small business!"

After some time, Chrissy appeared to be softened in her response. After one of her followers suggested that she could have donated or given people gift certificates, Chrissy said, "I've done those things too. And more. I promise you I am not bad??"

Chrissy Teigen cleared the air

The model assured followers that she wasn't meant harm with the tweets

In another post, the mom of two called the interaction with Valle "a ride," explaining, "I didn't mean it to sound like I don't care about the pandemic? it was tweeted quite innocently, perhaps tone deaf but I like soup and if you can support these businesses, then that seemed cool but yeah if you can't, then that is also fine, I am not shaming you."
