Even though the 'Suge' rapper has insisted that Tyronesha Laws wasn't the woman he slapped at the Tampa event, she is seeking damages for battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress, among other claims.

AceShowbiz - A woman allegedly slapped by rap newcomer DaBaby at a show in Florida is taking the star to court.

The "Suge" hitmaker was making his way to the stage at the Whiskey North in Tampa on 7 March (20) when he appeared to lash out at a female fan after claiming to have been struck by a cell phone.

Tyronesha Laws subsequently identified herself as the victim, alleging she was standing next to the cell phone culprit, which prompted the MC, real name Jonathan Kirk, to issue an apology via his Instagram page - but not before making light of the situation in a comedy skit with funnyman Michael Blackson.

DaBaby, through his attorney, Drew Findling, has since claimed Laws isn't the person who was slapped, but she is standing by her story and has filed suit.

In the legal papers, obtained by TMZ, Laws recalls DaBaby and his entourage making their grand entrance by walking through the crowd towards the stage "without incident" - until they reached the spot where she was standing.

The plaintiff explains he "suddenly and without any warning" lashed out at her, hitting her in the face in what her attorneys, Matt Morgan and Chelsea Cromer, have branded an "outrageous and shocking" incident, which they hope to prevent happening again by taking legal action on Laws' behalf.

"Our goal is to deter similar conduct in the future and send a message that this type of behavior is not tolerated in America," they write.

Laws is seeking damages for battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress, among other claims.

DaBaby has yet to comment on the development.
