While admitting it's 'crazy' that his actor father and mother Rita Wilson are tested positive for the illness, Chet Hanks says that there's nothing to be too worried about because his parents are 'not even that sick.'

AceShowbiz - Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson's son Chet Hanks a.k.a. Chester Hanks has made use of his social media account to give an update on his parents' condition after they were both tested positive for coronavirus. The 29-year-old took to Instagram on Wednesday, March 11 to assure everyone that his parents "are fine" despite being stricken with the illness.

"Wassup everyone. Yea, its true my parents got coronavirus. Crazy," he opened the video, which was released shortly after Tom released his statement. "They're both down in Australia right now 'cause my dad was shooting a movie down there. I just got off the phone with them."

Assuring that his parents are "not even that sick," he added, "They're not worried about it. They're not trippin' but they're going through the necessary health precautions obviously." He also implored people to remain calm, saying, "I don't think it's anything to be too worried about."

"I appreciate everyone's concern and the well wishes," he told his followers and fans of his famous parents, before concluding it, "I think it's all going to be alright. I appreciate it. Everybody stay safe out there. Much love."

Tom announced earlier on Wednesday that he and Rita have been tested positive for COVID-19 while staying in Australia for the pre-production of Baz Luhrmann's untitled Elvis Presley film for Warner Bros. He explained their symptoms, "We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too."

Confirming the diagnosis, Tom said, "To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive." The "Sully" star said that he and Rita, both 63 years old, are following the country's health protocols and "will be tested observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires."

People have since taken to Twitter to express their concerns, with Whitney Cummings among one of them. "It's like it picked the celebrity we cared the most about to make a point," the actress tweeted after the actor's diagnosis. She added in a separate post, "I mean Tom Hanks is who would play the guy in the movie about Coronavirus."
