The 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' actor, who canceled his trip to London last month due to a 'family obligation,' is revealed to have been with his daughter who recovered from an operation at the time.

AceShowbiz - Brad Pitt puts family above awards event. The 56-year-old actor skipped the 2020 BAFTA Awards last February due to a "family obligation," and now the exact reason of his absence at the London has been revealed.

The actor, who won a Best Supporting Actor award for his role in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" at the BAFTAs, chose to be with his daughter who was recovering after a surgery, instead of attending the event. "The children come before anything," a source tells Page Six.

Brad's reason to miss the BAFTAs is revealed after his ex-wife Angelina Jolie talked about their two daughters' recent surgeries. "I have spent the last two months in and out of surgeries with my eldest daughter," she wrote in a new essay for Time magazine, referring to 15-year-old Zahara. She also revealed that one of her younger daughters, Shiloh, 13, or Vivienne, 11, had work done on a hip, noting that both girls "are recovering well."

Praising her kids for caring for one another, the 44-year-old actress shared, "I have watched my daughters care for one another. My youngest daughter (Vivienne) studied the nurses with her sister, and then assisted the next time. I saw how all my girls so easily stopped everything and put each other first, and felt the joy of being of service to those they love." She added of her sons, "Their brothers were there for them, supportive and sweet."

"But on this International Women's Day, writing from the hospital, I find myself focusing on my daughters for a moment, and all that I have learned from them and other young girls I have met around the world," she continued, as she wrote in honor of International Women's Day. "Little girls' softness, their openness and instinct to nurture and help others, must be appreciated and not abused."

According to E! News, Brad and Angie's younger daughter who had a hip surgery was Shiloh. A source says that throughout the process the source says both the "Moneyball" star and the "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil" lead actress were "very involved and there for them in their procedures." The so-called insider reveals, "They were both concerned and loving parents that were by their kids' sides."

The insider adds, "She never left the hospital and was very sweet and child-like with her kids. You can see she gets down on their level and really makes them feel comforted." A second source additionally claims, "Both parents were equally involved and focused on their well-being throughout the entire process."

As to how the other kids supported their siblings while they were in the hospital, the first source says they visited and "were very patient and helpful" as their sisters recovered. "They brought cards and you can see they are a close knit family. It was a big deal for them and they all came together," the source dishes.

Aside from taking care of his two daughters after surgeries, Brad was apparently still able to enjoy his life as a single man. On Saturday night, March 7, he was spotted watching musician Thundercat perform at The Wiltern in L.A. He was joined by "Arrested Development" alum Alia Shawkat, whom he has been rumored dating for months now.

In a picture obtained by TMZ, singer Beck was seen coming over to chat with the alleged couple, while Ariana Grande, Ty Dolla $ign and Anderson .Paak were reportedly also enjoying the concert from the VIP area.
