The 'Yikes' rapper makes the humanitarian efforts during her visit to her native country with husband Kenneth Petty, who was recently caught in a misunderstanding involving Trinidadian artist Iwer George.

AceShowbiz - Nicki Minaj is showing her humanitarian side. During a visit to the St. Jude's Home for Girls on Thursday, February 27, the "Anaconda" hitmaker declared her pledge to donate $25,000 for the school in her native Trinidad and Tobago.
"I wanna thank you for your work with the girls," the 37-year-old rapper said during her surprise visit. "I wanna thank you for giving them hope and inspiration and they've even given me hope and inspiration being here today. And I wanna donate $25,000 to help the girls."
In her speech, the "Barbie Dreams" MC hinted on the possibility of her building a recreational center. "I came to get ideas and you guys gave me a lot of great ideas on creating a building here in Trinidad where young people can go to and have recreational fun," she admitted.
When speaking to the youngsters, the Young Money rapper opened up about her dark past. "I've experienced being in a home with domestic violence," she shared. "I've experienced, you know, being at a very difficult crossroads in my life as a teenager. And sometimes as a teenager when things happen, you feel like there's no up from there."
Assuring them "there is always better days ahead," the Grammy nominee added, "I want you guys to be encouraged. I want you guys to know that God didn't promise us a problem-free life...but there has to be something inside of you, even right now today, that decides you're going to win no matter what, no matter comes at you, no matter what was already said about you, no matter if you don't have your parents, no matter if you don't have family. You have to know and decide today, right now, that you are going to be one of the ones in this room that wins."
During her visit, Minaj hosted a mini-concert for the girls and encouraged three girls to perform in front of their classmates. After the performance, she praised the girls for supporting each other. "It's very important that as young women, we don't point the figure at each other," she stressed.
"We all make mistakes, nobody's perfect. When you can acknowledge that you made a mistake and you know that it was wrong, you learn from it and you keep it moving. We're not living in the past. Anybody talking about your past is just jealous of your future."
