AceShowbiz - Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder is undergoing scalp micropigmentation treatment to mask his hair loss.

The "Step On" hitmaker has suffered total hair loss, after taking testosterone injections for an underactive thyroid.

In order to look like his old self again, he began the treatment at the firm Skalp's Manchester clinic, which leaves patients with a realistic looking close-cut hairline, earlier this month February 20.

Revealing he had reached the second stage of the treatment in an Instagram video posted on Monday, February 24, he said: "Well here I am back for session two at Skalp with the wonderful fantastic Dean sorting out my nugget. I'm going to go home looking like super duper magnificently sexy tonight."

In a YouTube video posted by Skalp, the 57-year-old explained: "I'm feeling human again, don't look like a big toe."

The treatment uses natural pigments which are added to the follicles to give the look of a full head of hair the patient has decided to shave.

Shaun told the NME about the drugs and testosterone injections he needs to cope with his thyroid problem in 2017.

"It (injection) makes me feel like I'm 21 again," he said. "I'm serious! I've got no thyroid. I have to take 150 micrograms of a thyroid replacement drug daily and the testosterone injections."
