The 20-year-old rapper was at his home in the Hollywood Hills, California at around 4:30 A.M. on Wednesday morning, when two men wearing hoodies and masks broke into the premises.

Mike Durodola, who was staying with Pop Smoke in his Los Angeles house, quickly took to his social media account to deny that he set up his own friend. "CANT NOTHING EXPRESS THE PAIN IM FEELING ....I JUST LOST MY FUCKING BROTHER, MY HEART MY DAWGZ," Mike, whose whereabouts during the shooting were unknown, wrote on Instagram alongside photos of him and the late rapper.

"GUYS HAVE NO TYPE OF SENSE OR SYMPATHY ! YALL DONT KNO WHATS GOING ON YALL COME ON HERE PLAYING INVESTIGATOR AND BASHING ME ON THE INTERNET, I WOULD NEVER IN MY LIFE SET MY BROTHER UP, WE ATE TOGETHER , BROKE BREAD TOGETHER THIS REALLY MY MOTHER CHILD I DONT GOTTA EXPLAIN NOTHING TO NOBODY THAT DONT KNO ME BUT FOR THE ONES WHO KNOW ME KNOW WHEN YOU SAW ME YOU SAW POP," he continued.

Concluding his post, Mike added, "WE LIVE IN SUCH A F***ED UP SOCIETY YALL GOTTA WAKE UP. JUST KNO I GOT YOU FOREVER BROTHER THE TRUTH WILL COME TO LIGHT UNTIL THEN SLEEP IN PEACE."

Meanwhile, it was revealed that Pop Smoke flaunted his wealth on Instagram hours before his murder. He could be seen posing with a stack of cash inside his car alongside Mike. "GET STRAIGHT PASSION ZIP HIM UP BAG EM LOUIS V LOUIS V LOUIS," so he wrote in the caption.

According to the news outlet, the star was rushed by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood, where he was pronounced dead. The suspects have not yet been identified and remain free, after one man was arrested but later released after cops determined he was not involved. It's unclear if the musician, real name Bashar Barakah Jackson, knew the shooters.
