Having struggled with breakouts in the past, the Sharpay Evans of the 'High School Musical' franchise reveals what product she cuts from her diet for the past five years.

AceShowbiz - Ashley Tisdale has shared her secret to get a flawless skin. The Sharpay Evans of the "High School Musical" franchise revealed via Instagram on Tuesday, February 18 that she has cut off dairy products in her life since five years ago and it helped her a lot to get a clearer skin.

"I've been dairy free for 5 years," Ashley wrote along with a video of her showing off her clear skin. The 34-year-old actress and singer went on explaining that ever since she stopped consuming dairy products, her skin has become better. "And I swear it changed everything with my skin," she said.

She admitted that giving up dairy is hard to do, but if someone keeps doing it, he/she will get used to it. "I know it's hard to give up something but when you do after awhile you barely crave it," she stated, adding that she feels even healthier after she becomes a dairy-free person.

Ashley used to have a struggle with breakouts in the past. But after she did her routine, she gets the results of what she always wanted, which is less breakout. "I barely break out," she wrote in the caption, "Skin never looked so good."

Confirming Ashley's testimony, N.Y.C. dermatologist Dr. Yoon-Soo Cindy Bae tells PEOPLE that studies have shown that high glycemic index foods can contribute to acne. "There are theories that the hormones in milk affect our sebaceous glands by way of increasing other hormones related to glycemic index. There is also an inflammatory component that plays a role," she says.

Dr. Y. Claire Chang of Union Square Laser Dermatology in N.Y.C. also says she has patients who commonly report that milks and cheese trigger acne flare-ups. She adds, "Acne can also be associated with high sugar, alcohol and processed carbohydrates but clinical studies are needed to establish this connection."

Prior to opening up about her dairy-free diet, Ashley has stressed that taking care of her skin is important for her. In 2017, she posted a video on her YouTube channel, detailing her skincare routine. In the video, she revealed that Cetaphil was her favorite product and she used it since she was 16 years old. She then continued to mention her other skincare products, including Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Cleanser and Sente Intensive Eye Therapy.
