According to a new report, the two top stars are having a battle over who gets to spend more time with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex when they arrive in California.

AceShowbiz - Everyone wants to be friends with Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle. Even the celebrities who are already among close friends of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, they are allegedly involved in a petty battle to top each other when it comes to the couple's go-to celeb. Elton John and George Clooney are two of them.

According to Radar Online, the two top stars are having a battle over who gets to spend more time with the Duke and Duchess when they arrive in California. "They each see themselves as Meghan and Harry's go-to Hollywood star," shares a source to the site.

It is said that the two's celebrity friends are already lining up to welcome them, who are currently staying in an opulent Vancouver Island mansion with 8-month-old son Archie. "There are huge bragging rights at stake over who gets to see them more often when they relocate to North America," adds the insider.

"George and [wife] Amal aren't impressed by Elton's arrogance," the source adds. "Especially as he's running around town telling everyone who'll listen that he looks forward to organizing the Sussex's social calendar."

Both George and Elton have showed their support by publicly defending the couple when they were criticized by media for several things before. During his appearance on "Good Morning Britain", the actor/director condemned British media for scrutinizing Meghan. "I think it's a little unfair at times," he said in the interview. "I've seen it when the press can turn on you for sort of ridiculous reasons and for almost nothing, and it seemed to me to be a little unjust since [Meghan] hadn't done anything except just happen to live her life."

Meanwhile, Elton took to his Twitter account to set the record straight amid reports that the Duke and Duchess were jetting around in private jets despite being outspoken about environmental issues. "I am deeply distressed by today's distorted and malicious account in the press surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s private stay at my home in Nice last week," he tweeted.

"Prince Harry's Mother, Diana Princess Of Wales was one of my dearest friends. I feel a profound sense of obligation to protect Harry and his family from the unnecessary press intrusion that contributed to Diana’s untimely death," he continued. "I highly respect and applaud both Harry and Meghan's commitment to charity and I'm calling on the press to cease these relentless and untrue assassinations on their character that are spuriously crafted on an almost daily basis."
