AceShowbiz - Taylor Swift's father Scott Swift bravely fought off a burglar in his Florida penthouse. The country-turned-pop superstar's dad owns a condominium, which he reportedly purchased for $4 million, at the Vinoy Place towers in St. Petersburg and caught an intruder at his home on January 17.
According to St. Petersburg police, the burglar, Terrence Hoover of St. Augustine, got past the "fully gated and guarded entrance" and then ran through the parking garage to the emergency stairwell. He climbed 13 floors and exited the stairwell into the penthouse just before 10 P.M.
Shortly afterward, Scott returned home through the elevator and saw Terrence running out of his residence. Scott confronted the man and the two were involved in a tussle before Terrence managed to escape. Interestingly, Terrence called the police "to report his encounter with a man living at the Vinoy."
Scott later picked Terrence from a photo lineup, but police could not find him until last week. He was arrested on February 12 on burglary charge and was still in jail as of Monday, February 17 on $50,000 bail.
It's not clear if Terrence targeted the residence or stumbled into it, and whether he took something from Scott's house. Hours before the burglary, Terrence had an encounter with police when he was cited at 1:31 A.M. for making an illegal U-turn on railroad tracks.
Terrence's mother Donna DeNapoli claims her son was "looking for churches by the water where his wife could be staying" and got lost while searching for his estranged wife. His wife left him and his three children six months ago. Donna tells the Tampa Bay Times, "He was lost and should be charged with only trespassing."
There's no report of injury during Scott's encounter with Terrence. Taylor was not with her father at the time as the "ME!" hitmaker lives elsewhere.
