During her appearance on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show', the 37-year-old actress portraying Destiny in 'Hustlers' reveals she went undercover at a strip club in preparation for her role.

AceShowbiz - Constance Wu went all out for her role in "Hustlers". During an appearance on "The Kelly Clarkson Show", the actress portraying Destiny in the Lorene Scafaria-directed heist movie confessed that she went undercover as a stripper and gave strangers lap dance in order to prepare herself for her part.

In the Monday, February 17 episode of the NBC talk show, the 37-year-old was asked how did she "study" for her role when sitting down with host Kelly Clarkson. To the surprise of the "American Idol" alum, she replied, "I did work at a strip club to get ready for Hustlers. I went undercover. I gave lap dances to strangers."

When Kelly expressed her disbelief at her revelation, Constance assured her, "I'm not lying! I made $600 my first night." She added, "I am not being funny, and it was not funny. I put fake tattoos on my neck, changed my hair. You can't duplicate the first time you walk into a club and say, 'Hey, I'd like to have a job here,' and then you go work that night."

The actress, who made her breakthrough on ABC's "Fresh Off the Boat", further spilled on how she disguised herself. "I put like fake tattoos on my neck," she recalled. "And I, like, changed my hair, I put like you know these hair pieces in." During the chat, she also admitted to have "installed a stripper pole in [her] living room for a few months."

This was not the first time Constance talked about her preparation for "Hustler". Back in September 2019, she opened up in Vulture's oral history that she took pole classes and private coaching sessions. "And this was all stuff I paid for by myself before we even started the movie," she revealed, before adding, "I became friends with a couple of strippers."

The "Crazy Rich Asians" star further shared, "I went to a lot of strip clubs in San Francisco - that's what I spent my Christmas Eve doing. I went with two of my guy friends, and we went to five different clubs. It was so f***ing fun. And nobody knew who I was. I'm not really that famous. Also nobody expects this sitcom mother of three boys to be in a strip club."
