In a joint statement, Chris and Krystal, who previously vied for Arie Luyendyk's heart, reveal that they have 'come to a point where we both need to work on ourselves.'

AceShowbiz - Krystal Nielson and Chris Randone have called an end to their marriage. The "Bachelor in Paradise" couple made public their decision to mutually separate on Valentine's Day, February 14, less than a year after they exchanged wedding vows in Mexico.

"It hurts to announce that at this moment, we have mutually decided to separate," the now-estranged couple, who met on the ABC's dating show, announced in a released joint statement. "Never did we imagine this scenario, but we've come to a point where we both need to work on ourselves."

The pair, who are both 32-year-olds, went on to assure that the split didn't change the way they feel for each other. "We are best friends that love and care for each other so deeply," their statement further read. "We've appreciated everyone's love and support so far throughout our journey and we just ask that you please respect our privacy as we navigate through this."

Nielson and Randone got engaged on the beaches of Sayulita, Mexico when filming the fifth season of "Bachelor In Paradise". Their June 2019 wedding at the Vidanta Hotel was attended by fellow "BiP" stars, including Ben Higgins, Ashley Iaconetti, Becca Kufrin and Jared Haibon, and officiated by "The Bachelor" host Chris Harrison.

Before the shocking split, the pair were planning for a baby. In January, however, Nielson shared her distress over her fertility test result. "We found out that my AMH levels, a hormone that deals with ovarian reserve, tested very low," she confided. "This means that the amount of viable eggs I have is lower than average for my age group and could also lead to implications for egg freezing/IVG and early menopause... which basically made me want to cry."

"We felt confused, conflicted and it was a conversation that had us really map out the potential of our future," she continued. "Did we have time to put off kids? Or did we need to re-arrange our priorities because we didn't have as long of a timeline as we expected? We decided for me to get off birth control and re-test my hormones in December."
