AceShowbiz - Doug Hutchison is getting candid about his marriage to Courtney Stodden. In his upcoming memoir entitled "Flushing Hollywood: Fake News, Fake Boobs", which is set to hit the shelves on March 10, the actor recalled the time when the two of them were so broke they ended up faking pregnancy and miscarriage to earn money.
"I'm not proud to admit this, but again, this book is about the truth.. I don't justify it in my book. I'm actually ashamed that we did it," he said in an interview with Fox News, revealing that Courtney was the one who came up with the idea and that he went along with it because they were desperate for money.
He explained, "She wanted to convince the public that she was pregnant so we can get paid for interviews and possibly a reality show. It was all about survival. It was all about a way to make rent, to pay the bills. It was desperation. I was an accomplice. I felt at the time there was no other choice in order to survive... We didn't think about the consequences, the future."
Doug went on to say that he was hurting so bad when they announced the fake miscarriage, especially because they gained a lot of empathy from the public and support from women who went through the same thing. "I didn't want to look at it. I just stuffed it all down," he recalled, adding that his "heart drops" every time he reads an article about miscarriage.
"So enough. It's time to reveal the truth, as difficult as it is," he said. "I'm not proud to admit this chapter at all. But all I can say is desperation is the mother of invention. And the invention was unfortunate... We maintained an illusion that we were living large. But it was far from the truth."
Doug and Courtney, who finalized their divorce last month, announced that they were expecting back in 2016. However, three months later, she revealed that she suffered miscarriage.
