In a chat with her father, the kid formerly known as Zion breaks her silence on the criticisms and homophobic comments that she has been getting on the internet since last year.

AceShowbiz - Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade's transgender daughter Zaya spoke out amid controversy surrounding her gender. The youngster responded to the criticisms and sent a message to other kids struggling with the same issues as her.

"[To anyone] who is afraid they're going to be judged, I would say don't even think about that. Just be true to yourself, because what's the point of even living on this earth if you're going to try to be someone you're not?" she said. "It's like you're not even living as yourself. Be true and don't really care what the 'stereotypical' way of being you is."

"Even if people are being mean?" her father asked, to which she replied, "Yeah, I know it can get tough. Definitely. But I think you push through and you be the best you. Especially more recently it's become more accepting, even though there are still obviously a lot of people out there who still are set more in the 'back in their days' way of mind. But I think even through hard times, you gotta just push through."

The father-daughter conversation was shared by Gabrielle Union on her social media. She proudly wrote, "Meet Zaya. She's compassionate, loving, whip smart and we are so proud of her. It's Ok to listen to, love & respect your children exactly as they are. Love and light good people."

Zaya, formerly known as Zion, is Dwyane's second child with his ex Siohvaughn Funches. The kid went viral in November for wearing a crop top and nail polish in a family picture. She received a lot of supports as well as mean comments on the internet.

Dwyane officially introduced the new Zaya during an interview on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show". He recalled the kid coming home and telling him and Gabrielle, "I think going forward, I'm ready to live my truth. And I want to be referenced as she and her. I'd love for you guys to call me Zaya."

The parents fully supported Zaya's decision. They even asked for advice from the cast members of LGBTQ+ show "Pose" to get as much information as they could regarding transgender in order to give Zaya "the best opportunity to be her best self."
