AceShowbiz - Blac Chyna has broken her silence on the backlash she has been receiving over her appearance at the 92nd annual Academy Awards. Through her representative, the TV personality makes it clear that she deserves to be at the award-giving event and believes she's a victim of racism due to all the negative responses.
In a statement sent to TMZ, her rep claims that Chyna's status as a black woman who "finds inspiration in supporting her friends, mentors and other talent that has helped provide a blueprint for her career" is enough reason as to why she deserves to be at Oscars. Her rep then pointed out that her attendance at the event was no different than from others who got invited despite not being nominated in any of the categories. But the fact that she's a person of color is what she believes got people baffled.
"Whether it be the fact that she is a reality star, a single mother, or the inevitable reminder that she was a former stripper … it does nothing to change the narrative that just maybe the Oscars indeed are 'so white,' " her rep said, adding that all the buzz surrounding Chyna's appearance "further highlights the fight that many African Americans in the Entertainment Industry face; yes, even during Black History Month."
Chyna shocked everyone when she hit the red carpet in a plunging black velvet gown at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles ahead of the show. As more people questioned why she managed to attend the biggest night in the film industry, the "Rob & Chyna" alum later revealed that she was music producer Christopher Trujillo's plus one for the evening.
Taking to Instagram, she shared a video of her and Christopher en route to the venue along as they listened to music together. "Headed to the Oscars with my Award winning engineer," she said in the caption.
