AceShowbiz - In this era, celebrities' children are as famous as their parents due to their constant exposure in the public eye. However, Kerry Washington's kids are not among them as the Golden Globe-nominated actress has been really private when it comes to their lives. Now, she has revealed the reason why in an interview with InStyle magazine.
Speaking to the magazine for its cover story, Kerry admits she's "really, really vigilant" about keeping her kids out of the spotlight. "These are their lives. But it's not about pulling a Rapunzel and hiding them away in a castle from the world we don't want to do that," she explains. "I think any parent would want to keep kids from a situation that causes them to feel scared. I don't want them to be exploited, particularly in this social-media world."
But that doesn't mean she will completely opt out from sharing any details about their lives, though. Later on, she tells the magazine that all of her children like to swim as saying, "My husband teased me that if I did the [DNA test] 23andMe, it would come back 11 percent mermaid. My kids are the same way. They're just fish."
Kerry shares two children with her husband, Nnamdi Asomugha. She gave birth to her daughter, Isabelle, in 2014, while her son Caleb was born in 2016. The "Scandal" actress is also stepmother to the retired football athlete's 13-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
Prior to the InStyle interview, Kerry once spoke about parenting and her kids in a rare moment. "We get sent by God the kids we need so we can grow in order to be the parents they need us to be," she said at the time. "The children I got sent came in perfect, and I have to figure out how to grow and evolve so that I can support the truth of them. I'm in a constant state of learning and challenging myself to make room for their perfection and beauty."
