Celebrities have also signed an online petition that aims to replace the current logo featuring Jerry West in a silhouette with an image of the recently-deceased NBA star.

AceShowbiz - Usher, Justin Bieber, and Snoop Dogg are among the stars calling for the NBA (National Basketball Association) to change its logo in honour of the late Kobe Bryant.

The Los Angeles Lakers legend was just 41 when he was killed in a helicopter crash in California on Sunday, January 26, 2020, alongside eight other passengers, including his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna.

Following the heartbreaking news, tributes have poured in for the late sportsman, and fans are now petitioning the NBA to change its logo to recognise the star.

Vanessa Hudgens and Naomi Campbell were also among the famous faces backing fan Nick M's campaign on website change.org, which features a logo mockup by graphic artist Tyson Beck.

The petition aims to replace the current image, which features former basketball player and executive Jerry West in a silhouette. The design has been in place since 1969.

"Couldn't be a better time or all around athlete and person for it," Usher wrote on Instagram, adding, "#changethelogo."

When WENN went to press, the petition had amassed over 1.5 million signatures.
