Artist of the Week: Future
Music

Instead of trying to be like Eminem or Kanye West, the 'Life Is Good' rapper did the complete opposite and has now become a trendsetter in the hip-hop industry.

AceShowbiz - Future is a trendsetter. Back when everyone wanted to rap like Eminem or Kanye West, Future decided to do the complete opposite and did something that no one had touched. It stood out as unique and was so well received by music lovers that he even created a whole subgenre. Making almost everyone want to be like him, Future has pretty much become the Godfather of mumble rap.

His rapping style isn't the only one that stands out. His ability to produce a hit is also one of the reasons why people keep coming back to listen to his music. Take his new collaboration with Drake, "Life Is Good", as an example. The song received good response from music critics, particularly due to the fact that the switch to the beat on the song was well done.

Billboard praised how the rappers' different styles complement each other, while XXL described the production and instrumentation as "dreamy." On the other hand, Complex said, "It's not the back-and-forth between two titans that some wanted, but the two-tracks-in-one-formula translates to an interesting song structure approach that offers a fresh take on past collaboration between the two."

Fans were also loving "Life Is Good". It could be proven by how well the song did on music charts. It debuted at No. 2 on Billboard's Hot 100, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs as well as Rolling Stone Top 100. It additionally arrived at No. 3 in Canada, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.

In oppose to what fans have been hoping, "Life Is Good" serves as a standalone single and is not the lead single off their joint album. It's also unclear whether Future has any plan to include the single in his upcoming solo album, which will be a follow-up to his album "The Wizrd", which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 200. It marked his sixth No. 1 album.
