AceShowbiz - More details about the fatal helicopter crash that killed NBA legend Kobe Bryant and eight others, including her daughter Gianna, have emerged online. According to a new report by TMZ, heavy fog played a big role in the accident which took place on Sunday morning, January 26 in Calabasas.

It was extremely foggy that morning in Los Angeles with law enforcement sources telling the news outlet that the LAPD air support was grounded because of it. It was further reported that flight tracker data showed the 41-year-old superstar's chopper appeared to first encounter weather issues while it was above the L.A. Zoo.

The helicopter allegedly circled that area at least 6 times at a very low altitude--around 875 feet--seemingly waiting for the fog to clear. Prior to the crash, the pilot also contacted the control tower at Burbank Airport around 9:30 A.M. PT and the tower was aware that they had been circling for 15 minutes.

The pilot later went north along the 118 freeway before heading to the west to follow above the 101 freeway around Woodland Hills, California. The helicopter then encountered more weather issues at 9.40 A.M., prompting the chopper to turn south. The pilot later turned toward a mountainous area before making a sudden and rapid climb from about 1200 feet up to 2000 feet. However, when they were about 1700 feet at around 9.45 A.M., the helicopter flew into a mountain as they were flying at about 161 knots, according to flight tracker data.

Many were mourning the sudden death of Kobe. Following Kobe's passing, Michael Jordan shared some touching words to remember Kobe and his contribution to the NBA community. "I am in shock over the tragic news of Kobe's and Gianna's passing," Michael said in a statement. "Words can't describe the pain I'm feeling."

"I loved Kobe - he was like a little brother to me. We used to talk often, and I will miss those conversations very much. He was a fierce competitior, one of the greats of the game and a creative force. Kobe was also an amazing dad who loved his family deeply - and took great pride in his daughter's love for the game of basketball," he added. "Yvette joins me in sending my deepest condolence to Vanessa, the Lakers organization and basketball fans around the world."

Also paying tributes to Kobe were former U.S. leader Barack Obama, Khalid, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, Disney boss Bob Iger, Kelly Clarkson, fellow basketball legends Vince Carter, Scotty Pippen, and Paul Pierce, footballers Tom Brady and Brett Favre, rapper A$AP Rocky and Lamar Odom.

Alicia Keys also performed a tribute performance for Kobe at the 2020 Grammy Awards, which took place hours after the death. "Here we are together on Music's Biggest Night," she started off. "But to be honest with you, we're all feeling crazy sad right now because earlier today, Los Angeles, America and the whole wide world lost a hero, and we're literally standing in here heartbroken in the house that Kobe Bryant built."

Alicia then began singing an a capella version of Boyz II Men's single "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye To Yesterday", with the group joining her onstage for a surprise performance. "We love you Kobe," Keys said at the end of the song.

Kobe and his daughter Gianna were on their way to Bryant's Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks, California when the helicopter they boarded on crashed on Sunday, January 26 in Calabasas, California. The duo and seven others on board were killed.
