Keeping a positive attitude over the end of her six-year marriage to 'The Talk' co-host, the former 4 Non Blondes frontwoman hints that she's ready to move on while keeping a good relationship with her estranged wife.

AceShowbiz - Linda Perry keeps a positive attitude toward the end of her six-year marriage to Sara Gilbert. Weeks after her estranged wife filed for divorce, the former 4 Non Blondes frontwoman admitted that she is sticking to the "everything happens for a reason" mantra as she dealt with the split.

The 54-year-old shared her thought when attended the 10th Anniversary Gala Benefiting CORE which was held at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday, January 15. "All I can do is continue my journey," she told PEOPLE, before spilling that her current relationship with her ex is "evolving into something else."

In another interview at the event, the writer and producer of Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful" turned the focus to her son that she shares with the co-host of "The Talk". Crediting 4-year-old Rhodes for helping her "be patient and have more focus," she explained to Us Weekly why having her own child means she gets to correct her past.

"I get to be a great mom and maybe my parents weren't that great. Now I get to learn from that and give my son what great is and what I feel like I missed in my life," she said. "Every single bit of you that needs nurturing or didn't have nurturing shows up and you're giving it to this child. It's very healing to your child and you. Like, I'm correcting my parents right now by being a really incredible parent."

Proving that their split was amicable, Perry and Gilbert both attended the event hosted by Sean Penn. Still, the former couple walked to the red carpet separately with the rock singer arriving before the 44-year-old actress. Other stars coming to the gala included Connie Britton, Patricia Arquette, Alyssa Milano and rapper G-Eazy.

Perry and Gilbert tied the knot in March 2014. The latter filed for divorce in December 2019, listing the date of their separation as August 13. Around a week later, Perry addressed the split, "That doesn't mean … things that end doesn't mean they're over or they're bad. It's just you're evolving into a different place and that's kind of how I'm looking at it."
