Months after completing a cross-over high wire walk 25 storeys above New York City's Times Square, the daredevil announces his next challenge will be the Masaya Volcano in Nicaragua.

AceShowbiz - Daredevil Nik Wallenda is heading to Nicaragua to perform his highest and longest high wire walk to date across an active volcano on live TV.

The stuntman first unveiled his hopes for the new special last summer (19), after completing a cross-over high wire walk 25 storeys above New York City's Times Square with his sister Lijana.

Now he has revealed he will tackle the Masaya Volcano in Nicaragua this March, when he aims to become the first person to complete the feat.

If successful, it will be his longest and highest walk yet, at 1,800 feet (549 metres) across and 2,083 feet (635 metres) high.

"After spending years scouting and researching volcanoes, I fully realize why no one has ever attempted this feat: Mother Nature is extremely unpredictable," Wallenda shares in a statement.

"It is by far the most dangerous walk I have EVER attempted, and that alone makes it very intimidating."

"I am pushing myself beyond my comfort zone by the feat itself, but I know that I am up to the challenge. I must admit, it is scary."

Fans will get to watch Wallenda in action on TV as the two-hour special, titled "Volcano Live!", will air in the U.S. on 4 March.
