AceShowbiz - Not everyone is supportive of Nikkie de Jager a.k.a. NikkieTutorials' coming out. Jerrod Blandino's sister recently came under fire over what people called "transphobic" comments towards the beauty guru, leading social media users to vow to boycott cosmetics brand Too Faced.
Soon after Nikkie made the announcement, his sister, who goes by the name Dani California on Instagram, changed her bio to say, "Transgender, huh? That's not the only thing she's been LYING about." People soon came to attack both her and Too Faced following the comment, with many saying similar comments such as, "I will never EVER support too faced."
"This is the sister of the former CEO and current creative director of Too Faced Cosmetics talking about NikkieTutorials. How anyone could buy products from a company ran by people like this is beyond me," one said. "Too Faced cosmetics is run by transphobic people. This is absolutely disgusting and trashy," another wrote.
Jerrod has since broken his silence amid the backlash, stressing that "the things she says or does have absolutely nothing to do with me and do not in any way reflect me, my opinions, thoughts or feelings nor speak for me or Too Faced in any way shape or form." He also apologized for his sister's action as saying, "I am sorry for the hurt she has caused. Let it be known that I am truly shocked and disgusted to my core at her recent actions. I do not tolerate this behavior and she is no longer an employee of Too Faced."
He concluded, "I would like to say how proud I am of Nikkie Tutorials, and how inspired I am for her strength and sharing her beautiful truth with the world. I am sending all my love to her." Meanwhile, Dani appeared to be unapologetic despite the backlash because she later changed her bio to say, "Let's be clear, I love trans people & dislike anyone who lies to hurt others! Period!"
