The new song from the 'Take Your Time' singer was originally scheduled for release in November 2016, but got pushed back when he got in trouble with the law in Nashville, Tennessee.

AceShowbiz - Country singer Sam Hunt dropped new song "Sinning with You" on Thursday (January 02) - his first offering since his DUI arrest last November (19).

The singer was picked up by police officials in Nashville, Tennessee after they spotted him driving the wrong way on the city's Ellington Parkway. They found two open containers of alcohol in his vehicle after pulling Hunt over. Following the arrest, Hunt tweeted an apology for his "poor and selfish" decision, and he's now getting his music career back on track with a new single release.

Reflecting on the message of the song in an interview with Rolling Stone, Hunt explained: "It's a metaphor for a small town guy who was raised with traditional values, a lot of those rooted in church and faith. Most of the value systems that I grew up around are rooted in religion and church."

"You start to read books and talk to people who grew up in different backgrounds, and you try to collect that knowledge and find some meaning, some truth. It speaks to the broader pursuit of truth and understanding, in terms of how you are supposed to live your life."

While the song was initially scheduled for release in November, it was pushed until 2020 following his DUI arrest.

After the arrest, Hunt was charged with a misdemeanour for an open container as well as DUI charges, and is due to appear in court on 17 January.
