The 'Writing on the Wall' rapper is allegedly buying streams on Spotify using hacked accounts to boost his song that features Rvssian, Post Malone, and Cardi B.

AceShowbiz - French Montana allegedly used payola and faked Spotify streams using hacked accounts to boost the single from his latest album. The rapper was accused of buying streams for his song "Writing on the Wall" that featured Rvssian, Post Malone, and Cardi B.
The track was released in September 2019 to lukewarm reception and left Spotify's top 200 after 5 weeks. However, around Christmas, it re-entered the chart and jumped to the top 30 on Spotify US. At the same time, people were complaining on Twitter, claiming that that their accounts were hacked and used to play the song on loop.
"I like how whoever hacked my Spotify went out of their way to unblock Cardi B and played a song she's featured on over and over," one Twitter user revealed. "BTW I signed out everywhere and they signed back in and continued to play the f**king song." She added, "I changed my password but dear god what is the reason."
"Someone hacked my Spotify to play French Montana and I've never felt more violated," another wrote. One other user raged, "Someone hacked my Spotify. All this fool has been listening to is French Montana and I'm so mad that this s**t is now in my Spotify history and algorithm."
One more person penned, "So my Spotify got hacked or something bc this morning my sis and I were opening presents and I had Mariah Carey xmas playing and halfway through it changed to Writing on the Wall by French Montana. I'm not complaining by my parents were shocked."
While "Writing on the Wall" was rising on Spotify, it didn't enjoy the same popularity on Apple Music. In fact, the difference was astounding. It reached No. 21 on Spotify but only managed to climb to No. 1192 on Apple Music.
Neither French Montana nor his label responded to the allegations.
