AceShowbiz - Keanu Reeves' girlfriend Alexandra Grant has just explained why she doesn't dye her gray hair. The 46-year-old artist, who made her red carpet debut with the "John Wick" star as a couple last month, posted on Instagram on Wednesday, December 4 a Newsweek article about a study that highlights the danger of using permanent hair dyes and chemical hair straighteners.
The study found that the use of permanent hair dyes and chemical hair straighteners increases the risk of breast cancer in women. Alexandra wrote in the caption, "Wow. Today's news... The numbers are staggering, especially for womxn of color."
She went on sharing that her hair went gray prematurely in her early 20s, prompting her to dye her hair "every color along the way" until she "couldn't tolerate the toxicity of the dyes any more." She revealed, "In my 30's I let my hair turn 'blonde' "
Urging women to embrace their natural hair color, she added, "I love and support that every womxn can choose how she wants to look at every age. But/and, if womxn are perishing from beauty standards... then let's talk about those beauty standards. Love to all womxn!"
Keanu and Alexandra went public with their romance as they hit the red carpet of the LACMA Art + Film Gala on November 2. With her gray hair, many people mistook the artist for veteran actress Helen Mirren at first glance. Some Internet users, however, praised her for keeping her natural hair color, with one tweeting, "It also says a lot about how women are treated that so many people are stunned that a woman over 40 wouldn't dye her hair."
The pair have been friends for years and worked together his 2011 book "Ode to Happiness" as well as his 2016 book "Shadows". It's recently reported that the "Matrix" actor would move in with his girlfriend anytime soon.
