The 'Downsizing' filmmaker will join forces with 'The Mindy Project' writer Guy Branum in offering a new take on the Danish movie which won a 1988 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.

AceShowbiz - Director Alexander Payne is set to develop a reworked version of the Oscar-winning Danish film "Babette's Feast".

The "Sideways" filmmaker will team with "The Mindy Project" writer Guy Branum for the new take on the 1987 production, which was based on a story by Karen Blixen.

The drama centres on a small town in Minnesota where two sisters take in a refugee, who leads them to confront their past regrets and failures.

"Babette's Feast" won the 1988 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
