AceShowbiz - New details about Gabrielle Union's controversial firing from "America's Got Talent" have emerged online. This time, it is suggested that the decision to let go the "Bring It On" actress after one season has something to do with fellow judge Simon Cowell.
Vulture reports that Simon, who also serves as executive producer of the NBC show, and his team of producers perceived Gabrielle as someone "difficult." Sources claim to the site that the two clashed after Gabrielle raised concerns about Simon smoking inside the theater where the show filmed which is against the law in California.
"Union, who is allergic to cigarette smoke, was repeatedly rebuffed when she asked other staff members to request that Cowell stop smoking inside. Sources say Union was told by an NBC executive and production staff on the program that no one could stop Cowell from smoking and that previous attempts by a fire marshal and NBC executives had been unsuccessful," the report states.
It is also said that Simon "smoked indoors for years, much to the frustration of staff, crew and talent." However, none action has been taken because "NBC has given Cowell near-total control over America’s Got Talent. Virtually no decisions are made by the network on the show without his approval, according to three well-placed sources."
In related news, Gabrielle has broken her silence over the reports of her firing. Taking to Twitter, the "Think Like a Man" star wrote, "So many tears, so much gratitude. THANK YOU! Just when you feel lost, adrift, alone... you got me up off the ground. Humbled and thankful, forever."
Many fellow celebities showed their support in the replies. "You stand up for us, so we stand up for you!" Candice Patton wrote to the wife of Dwyane Wade. Lin-Manuel Miranda was also among those who made sure Gabrielle knew she was loved by saying, "TO THE UNION!"
This arrives after Dwyane defended Gabrielle on public earlier today. "So when i got the news that my wife was being fired--my first question was obviously why!?" he went on saying in a separate tweet. "I am still waiting on a good answer to that question. But if anyone knows @itsgabrielleu or have heard of her you know she's an advocate for our community and culture."
"As proud as i were of her being selected as a judge on #AGT-- Iam even more proud of her standing up for what she stands for and that'S US," Wade, who shares daughter Kaavia with the "Bring It On" star. "So [cheers] to you @itsgabrielleu on not losing sight of the lessons we've talked about teaching our daughter and for kicking ass while you were on that platform. Number 1 judge on one of the biggest shows in the world!!"
Gabrielle was reportedly fired from the NBC talent show after criticizing the show over racism and sexism. Recent report suggested that Gabrielle and fellow judge for seasopn 14 [c=Julianne Hough[, who was also let go, received "excessive notes" regarding their appearance. Gabrielle was allegedly criticized for her hair styles which were dubbed too "black" for the audience of the show. It was said that she received "received over half a dozen times, according to four sources" regarding her hair.
