The Batman and Robin ensembles worn by Adam West and his onscreen sidekick, Burt Ward, will be up for sale at the Profiles in History auction in Los Angeles on December 17.

AceShowbiz - The original costumes worn on hit 1960s TV show "Batman" are headed for auction.

The full ensembles worn by the first TV Caped Crusader, Adam West, and his sidekick Robin, Burt Ward, will be up for sale to the highest bidder at the Profiles in History auction in Los Angeles on December 17.

The costumes from collector John Azarian's collection are fully intact, with capes, masks, boots, tights and gloves included, and both are expected fetch a winning bid of between $150,000 (£116,000) and $200,000 (£155,000).

"I wouldn't want to break up the pair," Azarian told Reuters, insisting they'll be sold together as part of one package. "They are the only complete and original pair in the world. There are other costumes but they are missing pieces or there are replica pieces. Mine are 100 per cent authentic."

The Profiles in History auction will also include items from other famous and historic shows - the clothing worn by Leonard Nimoy's Mr. Spock and William Shatner's Captain James T. Kirk on "Star Trek: The Original Series", the "Wonder Woman" costume worn by Lynda Carter, and the pink harem ensemble donned by Barbara Eden in "I Dream of Jeannie", are also up for sale.
