'Insecure' Star Jay Ellis Responds to Backlash Over Him Having Baby With White Fiancee

Many people, particularly the black community, are not happy with the fact that the actor chooses to share a child with a white woman instead of someone from his own race.

AceShowbiz - Not everyone was happy when Jay Ellis announced that he had welcomed a daughter with fiancee Nina Senicar, particularly the black community. They were upset because the "Insecure" star chose to have a baby with a white woman instead of someone from his own race, and these people weren't even shy to let their feelings known.

Many left negative comments underneath a post about Jay's newborn daughter, with one saying, "He with a white woman too ?" alongside a face-palmed emoji. "Lol they always tend to end up with the white ones," another commented, as someone wrote, "Okay so no one finds it a bit weird that the black race is like the only who's literally against being with their own."

One person chose to be sarcastic as saying, "Of course she white he a uncle tom in real life lol," while someone else couldn't keep calm when reacting to the news, "THERES A LOT OF BEAUTIFUL BLACK WOMAN BUT HE HAD TO GET BUCKY SANDERS PREGNANT." There was also an individual who said, "Tired of seeing black men loving black women on shows but having white babies in real life," referring to his "Insecure" character Lawrence who is dating Issa Rae's character.

The backlash was apparently too much for Jay, so he finally decided to respond to them through an Instagram post shared on Wednesday night, November 13. Quoting Ralph Waldo Emerson, he said on the micro-blogging site, "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."

Jay and Nina welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Nora Grace Ellis, on Friday, November 8. The actor announced the happy news along with a snap of the couple's hands holding their daughter's tiny feet, simply adding a blue heart emoji in the caption.
