Japanese video game programmer Yuji Naka tells his online fans that he 'can't help but feel weird' about the character's new design recently revealed in the movie trailer.

AceShowbiz - The original creator of Sonic the Hedgehog isn't convinced by the character's latest redesign.

The iconic blue hedgehog has been reimagined and debuted in a new movie trailer on Tuesday, November 12, after an initial teaser for the film sparked controversy as fans reacted negatively to the character's latest look, which included the loss of his iconic white gloves and human-like teeth.

In the new trailer, Sonic's eyes have been enlarged, giving him a look closer to the original computer game character, while his teeth, though not totally removed, are far smaller, softened, and rounded.

However, the original creator of Sonic, Yuji Naka, has admitted he's still not happy with the design, as he took to Twitter to share his disappointment.

"This is the new trailer with Sonic's new design. The design is much more Sonic-like now that he's wearing gloves," his tweet read, translated by Dualshockers. "However, his eyes still aren't joined together, as expected. I can't help but feel weird about that one point. But I'm looking forward to the movie's release."

"Sonic the Hedgehog" was originally due to debut in cinemas this month, but its release was pushed back to February 2020 by Paramount Pictures to allow for the design changes.
