Pete Doherty Given Suspended Jail Sentence for Drunken Street Fight

The co-frontman of The Libertines has pleaded guilty to charges of affray just days after he was arrested in Paris, France for arguing with two passers-by and throwing punches at a teenager.

AceShowbiz - Rocker Pete Doherty has been handed a three-month suspended sentence and a large fine after pleading guilty to charges of affray in Paris, France on Tuesday, November 12.

The 40 year old, who previously dated supermodel Kate Moss, was also given a two-year probation period.

His lawyer, Arash Derambarsh, tells Reuters, "It is a lenient decision. Mr. Doherty will be able to keep singing. It is what we had asked (for)."

The Libertines star was arrested in Paris last week, ends November 08, for buying cocaine and detained again on Sunday for arguing with two passers-by and throwing punches at a teenager, who claimed he had been injured in a "drunken brawl."

The rock star faced charges of "violence by a person in a state of drunkenness."
