The former artistic gymnast opens up about her disappointment at herself for deciding to deliver her first child through the procedure, but that feelings changed after she held her daughter in her arms.

AceShowbiz - Shawn Johnson is feeling guilty over the birth of her first child. The former Olympic gold medalist has opened up about her childbirth experience on social media, spilling disappointment at herself for going into 22 hours of labor only to undergo a C-section in the end.

"22 hours of labor to end in a c section," wrote the 27-year-old on her Instagram account, along with a monochrome picture of her family. "I went in with such a stubborn mindset of thinking the only way I could bring our baby into the world was naturally."

The wife of Andrew East went on to confess that the long labor slowly cracked her determination to deliver her baby without any medications or intervention. "At 14 hours when I chose to get an epidural I felt guilty. At 22 hours when we were told I had to get a c-section I felt like I had failed," she noted.

Though so, the new mother revealed that her guilt went away when she held her "sweet girl" in her arms for the first time. "Being told everything went well and she had made it to us safely I could have cared less," she gushed.

"My/our world no longer has anything to do with us but everything to do with her. It's all for her and I will forever do anything for this girl that I love more than I ever could imagine. A love no one can ever prepare you for."

The former gymnast continued on to assure her husband that he "will forever be [her] number one", complimenting him as" the best husband/daddy in the world for being there every step of the way". She also thanked the "the incredible doctors and nurses who brought [their] baby girl into the world safely."

Shawn and Andrew welcomed their baby girl on October 29, before sharing the happy news through an Instagram post on November 4. The couple also shared her labor journey on their joint YouTube channel, The East Family. On November 7, they uploaded a video documenting the moment after Shawn was scheduled to get induced on October 28.
