AceShowbiz - Summer Walker has had enough of all the criticism she receives. Despite her success as an R&B singer, the star has become the subject to criticism over almost all the things she did, including the one time she revealed that she doesn't like taking showers. This time, Summer was slammed over her hair choice, and she was having none of it, especially because her critics were mostly black women.
Going off on her critics through an Instagram video, Summer admitted she was "appalled" by the criticism. "It's got to stop. Black women I'm talking to you, because it's not white women, it's not Latina, it's not Native American--I checked, it's y'all," she said. "The self-hate is ridiculous. Why do you hate yourself so much, why do you hate your texture, why do you hate your culture, why do you hate your history?"
She went on defending her choice to wear dreadlocks by explaining that it "used to represent a level of power and strength and devotion to purity and now you look at it as scummy. How did you get so brainwashed? How?" The "I'll Kill You" singer added, "How did your mindset become so tainted? Like, I don't understand. I used to change my hair two or three times a week, nobody said anything, maybe a b***h tried to zoom in on my lace but that's it. Now it's people like personally offended."
Summer concluded her rant by saying that their ancestors "would fire you up" if they knew people were criticizing her over dreadlocks.
However, it appeared the singer had yet to let out all her frustration through the video as she wrote in the caption of the clip, "& I don't wanna hear nothing about maybe if it was more neat. There's no one way to wear locs, free form are never together & some people have one big giant loc, so just get it together, y'all done let these European standards corrupt you."
