The Resistance is reinforced while the Emperor is making his return in the upcoming installment of the sci-fi film franchise that will bring a conclusion to the 'Skywalker Saga'.

AceShowbiz - Disney and Lucasfilm have unveiled the new and final trailer of "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" to hype up the movie's upcoming release. Making its way out online, the video promises a conclusion to the "Skywalker Saga" as the story reaches its epic end.

The video shows the survivors of Crait gathering around as Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) drums up their spirit. "We're not alone. Good people will fight if we lead them," he says in voiceover. The Resistance will indeed be reinforced, with a fleet of Resistance readying for one final battle against the First Order.

Poe, Finn (John Boyega) and Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) are seen embarking on a journey together, while Rey (Daisy Ridley) is featured in an epic duel with Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). In another scene, Rey, Chewie, Poe and Finn are sitting in a cockpit together.

Teasing the terror of the dark force, the video offers glimpses of Emperor Palpatine's (Ian McDiarmid) long-planned comeback. At one point, Rey comes face-to-face with the villain, who tells her that Rey and Kylo coming together is something which he has been waiting for.

There are some emotional moments, such as when C-3PO takes "one last look" at his friends, and when Rey tearfully shares a long embrace with General Leia (Carrie Fisher). Meanwhile, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) says in voiceover, "Confronting fear is the destiny of the Jedi. Your destiny." He's possibly referring to Rey, who in the final shot is seen holding her lightsaber while Luke and Leia are assuring her, "The force will be with you... Always."

"Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" follows the surviving Resistance as they face the First Order once more, while Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron's journey continues. With the power and knowledge of generations behind them, the final battle commences

Billie Lourd, Kelly Marie Tran, Domhnall Gleeson and Lupita Nyong'o are among the returning stars, with Billy Dee Williams reprising his role as Lando Calrissian. Keri Russell joins the cast as Zorii Bliss, who is described as a "criminal and old friend of Poe's."

J. J. Abrams directed the pic based on the script he co-wrote with Chris Terrio. The director recently told Empire magazine about bringing back Emperor Palpatine, "Some people feel like we shouldn't revisit the idea of Palpatine, and I completely understand that. But if you're looking at the nine films as one story, I don't know many books where the last few chapters have nothing to do with those that have come before. If you look at the first eight films, all the set-ups of what we're in 'IX' are there in plain view."

The movie is set to open in U.S. theaters on December 20.
