Cho has reportedly flown back to Los Angeles from the filming location in New Zealand to undergo surgery and extensive rehabilitation after a freak accident, according to Deadline sources.
The production will shut down for at least seven months and will not start up again until Cho has been given the all-clear from doctors.
According to the outlet, "Cowboy Bebop", which has been adapted from a cult Japanese animated series, was just a few episodes into its 10-episode order when the accident happened.
"Our thoughts are with John and he has our complete support as he recuperates from this injury," a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement to Deadline.
The actor took to Instagram to quote Bruce Lee, "Water can flow or it can crash." He added, "Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. Gonna be back and flowing in no time!."
