At the ceremony, the talk show host also gives a special shout-out to her 19-year-old son Kevin Hunter Jr., whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Hunter, thanking him for always encouraging 'me to keep it going.'

AceShowbiz - Wendy Williams celebrated her milestones on Thursday, October 17 as she got her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. For the big day, the TV personality opted for an outfit that was super fitting for th occasion, which was also attended by her son Kevin Hunter Jr.

The 55-year-old looked stunning in a Dolce & Gabbana black sheer dress which had star patterns on it. As for her hair, the award-winning veteran host chose to look elegant in a long, blonde wig.

Duran, whom Wendy dubbed the "king of all radio," presented Wendy with the award. "She gives us the courage to share our opinions," he said on stage of the New Jersey-born star. "We learn from you. You know what, sometimes we live in a world where people don't agree with everything you say. Fine, but I have a right to say what I want to say and I gotta tell you, you have swayed a lot of people your direction and your opinions. Everyone loves you."

At the ceremony where she was joined by Jack Abernethy, CEO of Fox TV stations, radio host Elvis Duran, Los Angeles City Councilman Mitch O'Farrell, Wendy admitted that she didn't prepare speech and was going to keep it short for fear of crying. She thanked her family, fans and "loyal, hard-working staff" at "The Wendy Williams Show" among others.

"I did not know I would be a talk-show host, but I liked the chit-chat; I've always liked the chit-chat," she said. "When they told me, 'It's going to be a live talk show,' I was frightened -- frightened. Doing it by myself, I had no problem with because most of my career I've been by myself. Even in a room full of a thousand people, I always feel like the person who doesn't belong."

Wendy went on addressing her tumultous year following her split from Kevin back in April. "The elephant in the room is that I've been having a very, very tough year. But slowly but surely, I'm climbing out of the pit," she revealed to the crowd. "And this is one of those monumental days, that, you say, 'If you don't believe in yourself, who's going to believe in you?' Sometimes life is a very, very lonely path. You just have to make some hard decisions."

She also gave a special shout-out to her 19-year-old son, whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Hunter. "He's always encouraged me to keep it going," she told PEOPLE. "And never asks me to pull back from anything that I say or that I wear or anything like that. He's always been very encouraging. So now, it's just the two of us against the world."
