AceShowbiz - One of three men charged with providing the counterfeit drugs to late rapper Mac Miller has pleaded not guilty.
Cameron James Pettit entered the plea in federal court Thursday October 10, in Los Angeles, after the 28-year-old was charged with conspiring to distribute controlled substances and distribution of fentanyl resulting in death.
According to the U.S. Attorney's office, each charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years in jail.
Petit has remained in custody since September 4, when he was arrested for the offence. His trial is set for November 26.
A second man, Stephen 'Stevie' Walter, was also set to appear at the arraignment under the same charges. However, the 46-year-old could not be moved due to a mumps scare at his facility, and his arraignment has been moved to October 31.
A third man, 36-year-old Ryan Reavis, has been charged with fraud and drug and gun possession in connection with the case.
Prosecutors allege Walter, via Reavis, provided Pettit with counterfeit oxycodone containing fentanyl, which he then sold to the embattled star two days before his fatal overdose.
Miller, Malcolm James McCormick, died of an accidental overdose of fentanyl, cocaine and alcohol last year. He was just 26 years old.
