The Emmy Award winner for outstanding lead actor for his role in 'Pose' is reportedly in talks to star opposite Camila Cabello, who is cast as the titular princess.

AceShowbiz - Billy Porter is conjuring his way to fairytale world. After shining in theaters and small screen, the awards-winning actor is close to landing a role in a potential blockbuster movie. He is reportedly in talks to join Sony's "Cinderella (2021)".

According to The Hollywood Reporter's sources, the 50-year-old Broadway theater performer, actor and singer is offered the role of Cinderella's fairy godmother. This is surprising considering the fact that the character has been usually portrayed by a woman.

Should the deal go through, Porter will star opposite Camila Cabello, who has been tapped to tackle the lead role of the titular pauper-turned-princess. The "Senorita" songstress will also provide music for the upcoming film. Sony had no comment on Porter's casting news.

The "Cinderella" remake is described as a modern reimagining of the classic fairy tale. "Blockers" filmmaker Kay Cannon is on board to direct for the studio's Columbia label, in addition to penning the script. The project is based on an original idea from CBS' "The Late Late Show" host James Corden, who is producing the film with Leo Pearlman under their Fulwell73 shingle.

When news of Cabello's involvement surfaced in April of this year, it was said that the project was put on the fast track for production. It's now reported that the movie is scheduled to begin prep this fall and Sony has slated a February 5, 2021 release date. Other cast members are currently unknown.

Prior to Emmy-winning role in "Pose", Porter had achieved success in theaters, having won a Tony Award, Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics Circle Award for his role as Lola in "Kinky Boots". In 2014 Porter won the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album for Kinky Boots.

The openly gay actor has several times made headlines with his gender-fluid fashion. At the 2019 Golden Globes, he donned an embroidered suit and pink cape designed by Randi Rahm. He later wore a fitted tuxedo jacket and a velvet gown by Christian Siriano with 6" Rick Owens boots to the 91st Academy Awards and sported a "Sun God" ensemble while being carried on a litter by six shirtless men at the 2019 Met Gala.
