Reprising her role as the Gotham pig-tailed badass, Margot Robbie finds new partners-in-crime following her breakup with the Joker and carves her own path in the process.

AceShowbiz - The first official trailer of "Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn" from DC Extended Universe has just made its way out for viewing pleasure. It offers a sneak peek of "the fantabulous emancipation of one Harley Quinn," who is played by "Suicide Squad" actress Margot Robbie.

The video shows Harley Quinn's life following her split from the infamous Joker as the anti-heroine assembles her own all-female squad. Instead of wielding her baseball bat from the 2016 film, she has a big hammer in this one. "I'm the one they should be scared of!" she says. "Not You! Not Mister 'J'. Because I'm Harley frickin' Quinn."

Directed by Cathy Yan, "Birds of Prey" is supported by Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, and Rosie Perez as detective Renee Montoya. Chris Messina joins the film as villainous Victor Zsasz and Ewan McGregor as another formidable foe Black Mask.

The superhero movie is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on February 7, 2020. "It had so much dark humor to it which a lot of my work does, and there are themes of female empowerment which are so strong and relatable," the helmer claimed.

The movie is expected to kick-start a new trilogy revolving around the pig-tailed deranged character. Rumor has it, the flick will be followed by a sequel which focuses on a trio of Gotham City Sirens and brings back Catwoman and Poison Ivy into the fold.
