AceShowbiz - People usually tell their family first whenever they are expecting a child, but it's not the case for Malika Haqq. Her father, Jamal Abdul-Haqq, admitted to Radar Online that he was totally blindsided by her pregnancy as the two of them had not talked to each other for years.
Jamal told the gossip site, "I don't know anything about that. I do not talk to her. I haven't talked to her. I haven't spoken to her in years." He, however, did not reveal his thoughts about the 36-year-old "Sky High" star's pregnancy announcement.
Malika announced her pregnancy on Instagram on Friday, September 27, sharing on the photo-sharing site a photo of her smiling while holding a pregnancy test. "I listen to my heart, and I've decided that the rest of my life will be the best of my life. I'm pregnant! I didn't know when, I just knew one day, God said it's my turn, and I couldn't be more grateful for the little spirit that grows inside of me. I am yours, baby, and you are mine."
The unborn baby will be Malika's first child. It remains unknown who is the father of her child as the star has opted out from revealing the identity of her baby daddy. She has also chose to keep the sex of the baby under wraps "for a little bit longer." In an interview with PEOPLE, Malika said that her mother and twin sister had helped her a lot throughout her pregnancy.
"I have been incredibly blessed," she said, adding that she's had a very low-maintenance pregnancy. "I have not been sick a day. Not on day. That, for me, has probably been the thing I've been so grateful thus far -- coming second to knowing that I have a healthy baby."
Following her pregnancy announcement, her friends have since flooded the comment section of her post with congratulatory messages. Among them was Khloe Kardashian, who wrote, "I am so beyond overwhelmed with love and happiness!!! God is GREAT!!!! We are all so blessed!!!! I love you and baby madly."
Khloe's ex Tristan Thompson has also congratulated Malika on her pregnancy, though his reaction was not so welcomed by others. In response to Tristan's comment, "Congrats Malika. Blessings on blessings," many people told the basketball player to leave her alone. "Go away," one wrote, as someone else urged him to "shut up." Another said, "I know you ain't trying to say a damn thing in. chasing clout shame on you."
