The special awards announcement comes just weeks after Miranda Lambert was revealed to be the recipient of ACM's Song of the Decade for 'The House That Built Me'.

AceShowbiz - Chris Stapleton has been honoured with the Academy of Country Music's inaugural ACM Artist-Songwriter of the Decade award.
The accolade is presented to a performer who has commercially released material that he has written, impacting country music in the process.
ACM special awards committee chair Kelly Rich reveals Stapleton's success on the radio, sales and streaming, and ACM Awards recognition in the past four years made him the top contender for the new honour.
"Had Chris Stapleton not been an artist, his impact on country music as a songwriter would be indelible," Rich says. "Had he not been a songwriter for himself and others, his influence as a recording artist, performer and vocalist would have been just as undeniable. In combination, however, Chris epitomises the spirit and intent of this award."
"We are thrilled to recognise both aspects of his contribution to country music over the last decade."
The award announcement comes weeks after Miranda Lambert's "The House That Built Me" was named the ACM's Song of the Decade, while Rhett Akins has been named ACM Songwriter of the Decade and Jason Aldean the Artist of the Decade.
The ACM's Album of the Decade, Single of the Decade, Breakout Artist of the Decade, and Music Event of the Decade will be announced in the coming weeks.
