AceShowbiz - Actor DeVaughn Nixon has signed on to portray his father in a new series about the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers basketball champions.
Norm Nixon was the team's playboy point guard during the Lakers' run of championships, which made the team one of the greatest of all time.
Based on Jeff Pearlman's book, "Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s", the star-studded project will also feature Quincy Isaiah as Magic Johnson, Jason Clarke as Jerry West, John C. Reilly as Lakers owner Jerry Buss, and Solomon Hughes as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
DeVaughn, who was born at the height of the Lakers' success story, previously portrayed Whitney Houston's son in "The Bodyguard" and also featured in "Terminator 2: Judgment Day".
