The blonde beauty receives backlash after she writes, 'And what a time to be here...always remember,' underneath a photo of her showing off her body in New York City.

AceShowbiz - No, Kristin Cavallari wasn't the one who posted the infamous 9/11 tribute on her Instagram account. It was apparently an act done by one of her employees, who had now been fired by "The Hills" alum after the backlash that she had been receiving over the tribute.

The post was shared on Wednesday, September 11, featuring a photo of Kristin posing on the streets of New York City. She looked gorgeous in a short, plunging black dress in the image, which had a caption that read, "NYC for 24hrs. And what a time to be here...always remember." Less than an hour after the post was uploaded, it had garnered hundreds of negative responses as many thought that her tribute came out as insensitive.

One Instagram user dubbed her tribute "poor taste," as another follower posted a lengthy comment that read, "Big fan of both you and your product, even visited your store when I was in Nashville this past year. But wrong photo with your message. A low cut black dress with a smile shouldn't be your look today. Maybe throw on jeans and a t shirt and go visit those fire stations. Pay your respects."

"You're gorgerous, but maybe this picture is not the right one for today. All those people that lost their loved ones don't care how hot you look, today," someone reminded her, while another wrote, "Wrong picture for the sentiment in the post."

Following the backlash, a source told PEOPLE that the image was supposed to be uploaded on Tuesday evening instead of Wednesday morning. However, an employee "took it upon herself to post it Wednesday with her own caption," said the insider, who later confirmed that the staff was fired after that. "Kristin feels bad about the situation," so the source added.

Kristin herself has yet to address the backlash, though she has changed the caption of the post to "NYC for 24hrs."
